The Eden Alternative is an exciting way of life at Courtland Gardens Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, formerly Jewish Convalescent & Nursing Home. We're proud to say that we are only one of three registered Eden Alternative centers in Maryland.
The goal of Eden is to remove loneliness, helplessness and boredom from the lives of our residents. We do this by bringing an enthusiasm into our center. It is a process that takes years to flourish. Although we have already put the basic changes into effect, we think that making sure that our residents have the best quality of life is an ongoing journey.
Among our accomplishments on the journey so far:
- Regular contact with children
- Interaction pets
- Care for plants and flowers
- Creation of unique dining experiences
- Share spontaneity and fun
The next step in Courtland Garden's Eden Alternative journey is the Neighborhood Model. We continue to really listen to our residents and patients and put their wishes and needs first. In our on-going efforts to make this happen, we are renovating our building and constantly adding new programs and services.
The success of the Eden Alternative depends on community support. We are actively seeking volunteers and funds for the expenses surrounding Eden activities.
